Port Road now on Steam and its free!

The 'Port Road' was the direct route between Dumfries and Stranraer Harbour via Castle Douglas and Newton Stewart. Construction began in 1856 between Dumfries and Castle Douglas, with the extension to Stranraer and Port Patrick being completed in the early 1860s. For the first 21 years services were operated by the Caledonian Railway, with the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) then taking control until nationalization.

Operations on the Port Road included mixed goods and local passenger services, boat trains, and an express service between London Euston and Stranraer for ferry services to Ireland, which became known as the 'Northern Irishman' or the 'Paddy'. Despite serving these many purposes, the line was closed (along with many other British branch lines) as part of the Beeching closures on 14 June 1965.

The RailWorks Port Road expansion pack, accurately recreated by Keith Ross (developer of the RailWorks West Coast Mainline route) with some truly stunning landscapes, represents the line from Dumfries to Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright in its final few months with Black 5 steam locomotives providing much of the motive power, and with diesel traction just being introduced.

TPO (Travelling Post Office)

Those of you who frequently visit UK-Trainsim's "Building Rolling Stock" for RailWorks section may have had your attention on Newbouy's TPO Coaches he has been modelling.

Newbouy has made 3 different liveries for the TPO (all in Royal Mail Red) and has even made the parcel trollies and has even managed to animate them to roll out the coach when you open the doors.

Newbouy has named a selection of well known scenario writers for RailWorks and they have been hard at work producing scenarios that will be released for the TPO after its initial release to the public.

Class 380 Reskins Permitted

I have heard back from TotalizeMedia's Alan Thompson and he has given retextures the all clear on the following conditions.

* 1. It is critical that they are merely new textures and don't contain any elements of our original product.
* 2. You must not make any financial charge or breach others trademarks in relation
to our product.

Please note, The Team @ RW-Trainsim have the right to withdraw temporarily or remove completely off the server any reskin that we suspect contains files other than the texture. If this is the case we WILL contact the author of the re-skin alerting them to the reason.

You may re-upload your reskin after the changes have been made and we are happy it contains nothing other than the new texture files (including the bin file).

Kind Regards
Slammer423 / Dave & all the RW-Trainsim Team.
